SoFiA is powered by the people who contribute their time, their experiences and their commitment. This is possible in very diverse and different ways - according to their interests, preferences, ability and time available. Important is the SoFiA – Spirit.
Especially in the initial phase of the voluntary service the host families play an important role by giving the volunteers a home, security and support. Beyond the families are also an important port of call for many volunteers in case they need a break from their work site during the voluntary service.
During the volunteers first four weeks staying in Germany the coaches will help and give the volunteers assistance upon arrival. How do I buy a ticket? How much are the eggs? How do I open a bank account? Where do I meet people in my age? With all these questions the coaches accompany the new volunteers from abroad.

The educational team consists of former volunteers, organizing the preparation and support of the current volunteers as well as the follow-up and a retrospective reflection after their service abroad. The educational team is meeting once a year to deliberate on the work of the previous year and to plan the upcoming. In addition, there is at least one annual training course about a specific topic for the members of the team.

The editorial team is composed as well by former SoFiA-volunteers, editing the regular newsletter and mailings to be published in the SoFiA blog.
Collaboration in the editorial team isn’t tied to any particular place. Which is a possibility to actively support and being part of the SoFiA network from anywhere in the world. Former volunteers, who aren’t available for educational work, who live far away or don’t have much time on their hands are very welcome to take this chance playing an active role within SoFiA.
